Still playing with the "painting in greyscale" thing, but this is a bit closer to my normal method cos I merged it all BEFORE refining detail, so I had colours down already. Better but I still think I'm not quite on the right balance here.

She sat up groggily. Slowly looking around her, she realised... this wasn’t the same place she’d been minutes ago.

What on earth had happened?

Turning dizzily, she confirmed that she was alone. Those brats must have escaped when she was knocked out, damn!

It took a moment to dawn on her what this meant.

“Damn. I need to find him now.”

She leapt to her feet, the urgency of her current mission overriding her urge to sit for a moment and compose herself.

Promptly, she tripped and fell flat on her face.

A vaguely familar giggle came from somewhere in the near vicinity, though in her current rather dazed state the direction was hazy, at best..

“Who’s there!?” she demanded, rubbing her forehead vigorously in a vain attempt to regain her senses somewhat.

“Oh, it’s you, the bitchy Dewott!” The high little voice seemed to be dripping glee. “I like you.”

Looking up, she realised why the voice was familiar. The Shroomish with red spots that had been with them on the mission was standing over her (a feat, in that she was only about as tall as Kyuvi’s head in any case) grinning maniacally.

“Hey, uh... yeah. It’s you. Uh...”

“Vermelho. Where the hell are we?”

“Um.” Kyuvi was thrown by the odd, authoritative way this spore spoke. “You can call me Kyuvi... and uh, I have no idea.”

“Interesting.” The Shroomish’s grin widened. “This should be fun! Shame Rojo’s nowhere to be found, but you’ll do. You even got a silly oversized scarf like his. Hah!”

It took a moment for Kyuvi to register what the talking mushroom had said. “You... you’ve looked around? Have you seen anyone else who was there in the forest?”

“Eh, there’s lots of weirdos around. I don’t really remember anyone specific.” Vermelho shrugged, again naturally despite having no shoulders.

“An Absol with a red ribbon maybe? Whimsicott with a scarf as a bandit mask?” The Shroomish just shook her head, or rather her whole body. It did look odd, Kyuvi couldn’t help silently observing. “A Vulpix....?”
